Latest Album: One Breath

Released on June 24, 2022

One Breath features songs Kaia Fowler wrote in response to hard times and times of transition for me personally and in the wider world. These songs explore transcendence, the mysteries of living and dying, and how we find healing and hope in the wake of profound loss.

“One Breath is, well, breathtaking!  It was one of the best albums I received in 2022. Kaia Fowler is a gifted songwriter and vocalist.”

— Lilli Kuzma, Host of "Folk Festival" on WDCB Public Radio

One Breath as an album, reflects on our relationships with ourselves, each other, nature, and spirituality. As a whole, the album resonates with love and an invitation to comfort, courage, and connection.

The album opens with a playful, bluesy track "Ridin' Along" featuring blues harmonica by Tricia Alexander. It contains delightfully woven melodies and guitar parts arranged and performed by Kaia Fowler with guest artists Peter Phippen on "Obon, Dance of Light" and Joe Jencks on "Take Shelter in Love" and drums by Caleb Wood on several tracks, including "Eclipse," a song of blessing for staying centered and holding on to the essence of who we are as we go through hard times.

Lines like, “When we feel that we are one—one blood, one breath, one Earth, one sky—then at last we shall overcome, and on the wings of Freedom fly, fly, fly,” from “Take Shelter in Love” reveal a longing for transformation and Unity.

Similarly, the title track, “One Breath,” explores what a difference one breath makes in a lifetime, from the first breath to the last. With the line “We all breathe one breath,” the song proposes unity in our collective breathing of Earth’s air every moment of our lives. One Breath honors our losses and offers balm to ease the transition and changes we undergo when a loved one dies.
