Welcome to greater wellbeing!

Are you seeking holistic therapy or coaching that activates and enhances your ability to heal and thrive? Do you have a feeling that you have more inside you that has not had a chance to be expressed? Do you want more out of life?

Together, we will navigate from where you are now to where you want to be. As a therapist and coach who works with adults, children, and teens, I provide customized services to meet each client’s needs and preferences.

I'm here to help you achieve your dreams for yourself, or your child, teen, or family. As someone who has engaged in my own healing journey, I understand that the first step takes courage. I invite you to ask me about my caring, holistic approach.

  • Do you long for a fuller, more vibrant life?

  • Need help adjusting to change?

  • Feel overwhelmed with trauma or grief?

  • Know what you need to do and can't seem to do it?

  • Struggle with depression or anxiety or both?

  • Parents: Do you need help for a child with issues related to learning, high-sensitivity, development, behavior, or health?

With qualifications in professional counseling, biofield therapy (Reiki), expressive arts therapy, Brainspotting, and other approaches, I am ready to help.

When you work with me, you have the option to receive integrated therapies, such as Reiki energy therapy, along with counseling and psychotherapy to promote healing and thriving.

Adolescents & Adults:

Want to overcome loneliness and isolation?

I am here for you.

Children & Families:

Are you looking for a way to help your child and family thrive?

Does your child …

Seem sensitive and easily overwhelmed?

Deal with being non-neurotypical in a world designed for neurotypical people?

Have behaviors that you want to help them improve?

Are you seeking transformational healing and growth for yourself, your family, or your child? I invite you to contact me to talk about how I can support your healing journey!

You and your loved ones deserve the better life you’re longing to create. Please get in touch. If working with me isn’t a great fit, then I will do my best to point you toward other resources.

With care,

Kaia

You are loved. Healing is possible. Feel connected.

Individual & Family Counseling

As a professional counselor, I work with all ages. For children, I provide individual and family therapy and use therapeutic play as appropriate to the child's age. I also incorporate playfulness and creative self-expression for adolescents and adults as a wonderful way to explore and foster recovery and growth. You will set the limits of how you want to experience therapy, and I will follow your wishes to help you feel comfortable with the work we do together.

My approach involves healing wounds through teaching and encouraging self-expression, activating your innate healing potential, and cultivating experiences of comfort, courage, and connection.

  • Comfort means being able to show yourself compassion and support yourself and seek support from others through the experience of healing and change.

  • Courage means developing confidence that you have what it takes in terms of strength and resources to be able to heal and improve your life.

  • Connection means nurturing a sense of being together in safe, healthy relationship with me as a therapist, and with others as you expand your sense of belonging.

I will listen to your lived experiences and help you to discover and use your own inner wisdom for problem-solving and decision making. Along the way, I will help you gain understanding and knowledge about yourself and your relationships. I will also help you develop more skills for being well in your daily life so you can be free to pursue your dreams.

Special areas of focus:

  • Adapting to grief & loss

  • Healing from trauma

  • Restoring & rekindling creativity

  • Overcoming loneliness, isolation, sense of non-belonging

  • Navigating life choices, career, college

  • Recovering from depression & anxiety

  • Addressing disability & care-giving issues

My Approach to Counseling

As a professional counselor, I practice from a constructivist theory of growth and change meaning that I am interested in your lived experience. Rather than believing in one right way, I will help you find YOUR ways of healing and being well.

I take an integrated approach to the work I do with clients, including helping techniques and tools from the following methods:

  • Experiential

  • Expressive Arts

  • Brainspotting (See brainspotting.com)

  • Biofield Therapy (Reiki)

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Coherence Therapy (aka Depth-Oriented Brief Therapy)

  • Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Guided Visualization

  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

“From the moment I met Kaia, I felt comfortable and safe in her company.  Her compassion was obvious from beginning to end.  Her listening skills and guiding questions helped me find deeper meaning after my sister's death.  It's not often you find someone who is willing to hold space with grief, without trying to ‘fix it.’  I was able to break through a ‘stuck’ place to a more hopeful, positive energy.”

  • I have practiced music as a healing art for decades.

  • I also hold a minister certification that enables me to perform weddings and funerals and other non-denominational, inter-faith, spiritual services that nurture individuals and communities.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I accept private payment only.

There are several reasons to consider not using insurance for therapy:

(1) Privacy - when you bill your insurance their employees access your information, can randomly audit it, and track your progress in therapy

(2) Protection from diagnoses - to bill your insurance, therapists are required to diagnose you with a condition that may later interfere with your life goals in certain professions, obtaining life insurance, etc.; and

(3) Control - rather than the insurance company controlling what methods and services I provide, I work directly with the client to select the best services for you. You can learn about my rates for services on my “Rates” page at this link.

What role does music play in your healing arts services & therapy?

Music is where healing arts started for me. I used songwriting and singing to help myself heal from trauma and grief. Starting in 2012, I developed healing arts music programs and concerts and performed them in community settings and venues. Next, I pursued education and licensing in professional counseling and training and certification in Reiki Energy Therapy to add to my ability to support others in their wellbeing.

In session, music may play in the background, may form a foundation for mindfulness, or we may co-write or co-sing a song in support of healing and growth. All depends on the needs of the client in the moment.

Do you offer online services?

Yes. I provide online services and in-person services. Online counseling and psychotherapy must be provided to persons located in the State of Wisconsin per my licensing requirements. Reiki energy therapy can be provided via distance sessions without restrictions on location. Contact me for more information. Thanks!
