What Have I Done?

~ For all the mothers, fathers, lovers and friends who have longed to be able to do more to help their loved ones suffering from depression

I found you standing on the bridge.
Your eyes sunk deep beneath the brine.
I tried to reach you there within.
You could not see outside your mind.

A touch of hands is not enough.
The sun pressed flat against the sky.
How did I fail you with my love?
What have I done? What have I done?

I want your pain to be my fault.
Then I can maybe make it stop.
I want my love to reach your heart,
To find the ache and shut it off.

You say you do not see the point
And question what your life is worth.
I stand here useless and afraid.
Are we alone here on this Earth?

A touch of hands is not enough.
The sun pressed flat against the sky.
How did I fail you with my love?
What have I done? What have I done?
